The O.S.J. Usual Gatherings "Chapters"

 

 

The GENERAL CHAPTER is the Great Assembly of the Order and takes place every three years.


The PRIORY CHAPTER is the annual gathering day of all the Commandries of the Priory. It takes place on the occasion of the Order's patron day, that is Saint-John the Baptist - 24th of June.


The COMMANDRY CHAPTERS :
The Commandry is the basic Community of OSJ :
it is :

a meeting point,

a training center,

an information center,

an executive and action center.


In the French Priory, they use to assemble all Members of the local Commandry EIGHT times a year : always the 8 of the month at 8 p.m. from October to May included.
A Commandry Chapter lasts 2 or 3 hours.
The programm of the meeting is generally always the same :
1- News exchanges.
2- Reciting " Our Father " all-together, as beginning the Chapter.
3- Thoughts and exchanges about the four usual sections of OSJ training :
- one of the 8 articles of the
OSJ Rule,
- one of the 8 Beatitudes,
- one of the 8
Proposals for the OSJ way of life,
- the synthesis of one of the 8 OSJ University " notebooks " for training.
4- State of the
Charity Works of the Commandry.
5- OSJ news and any other business.
6- Exchanges about the past month's
reading the New Testament.
7- Short Prayer for the
Five honours of the Order,
and for the passed away Founders of the Works of the Commandry.

Daily Prayer of the Order, read aloud by the youngest present OSJ Member
